TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 7. More than 106 kilometers of new sections were built on Uzbekistan’s Bukhara-Ural and Yangier-Akhangaran gas pipelines, Trend reports.
As per data provided by Uztransgas, one of the important events in expanding Uzbekistan’s gas infrastructure is the construction of a new network with a length of 22 km on the 528-550 km section of the Bukhara-Ural gas pipeline.
According to the corporation, around 21.5 kilometers of pipelines have been welded on-site during construction, with more than 170 individuals involved in the process.
The recently built Yangier-Akhangaran gas pipeline is also being developed to improve gas supplies in Uzbekistan's Ferghana, Namangan, and Andijan areas.
The pipeline network is said to be 95 kilometers long in total.
Furthermore, the Karakalpakstan gas distribution station was completed in early October on a segment of the Khiva-Beyneu major gas pipeline as part of infrastructure preparation for natural gas imports from Russia.
Uzbekistan has produced 35.1 billion cubic meters of gas from January through September 2023.
As per Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee, the decline in natural gas production accelerated as the recorded number reflects an 11.43 percent or a 3.6 billion cubic meters decrease compared to the same period last year.
On October 7, 2023, Russia began gas supplies to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan to cover part of the shortage of natural gas in the republic in the autumn-winter period.
The contract for the purchase of gas was concluded for two years with the volume of purchases amounting to 9 million cubic meters per day and about 2.8 billion cubic meters per year.
Moreover, on November 4, Uzbekistan’s Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov told reporters that the republic has already received 300 million cubic meters of gas from Russia since the start of deliveries.
