TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 11. The French Development Agency (AFD) and the Uzbek Ministry of Economy and Finance have exchanged views on the development of railway infrastructure in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.

During the talks, the assessment of the capacity of the Tashkent-Samarkand railway line and measures to improve its efficiency were of particular interest.

Pierre-Yves Safra, transport specialist of the representative office of the French Development Agency in Uzbekistan, expressed a number of opinions on the development of the railway infrastructure of Uzbekistan based on the experience of France.

In particular, Safra noted the need to take into account the factors that cause traffic jams, as well as the factors of domestic and international railway communication, when developing railway infrastructure.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue bilateral cooperation and discuss in detail the areas of cooperation based on the final conclusions of the studies.

Overall, Uzbekistan is actively engaged in the enhancement and modernization of its transportation systems to elevate the quality and efficiency of cargo transportation.

Significant investments are directed towards the expansion and modernization of the road network, the improvement of rail transport conditions, and the modernization of airports.
