TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, December 18. Uzbekistan has demonstrated a notable improvement in its global ranking for internet speed, Trend reports.
As per data provided by the November 2023 Speedtest Global Index, Uzbekistan climbed to the 99th position in the mobile internet speed ranking, marking a one-place advancement from the previous month.
Currently, Uzbekistan boasts a mobile internet speed of 24.70 Mbit/s. In terms of wired internet speed, Uzbekistan secured the 90th spot, showcasing an uplift from its previous 93rd position. The average speed for wired internet in the country has now reached 55.45 Mbps.
Meanwhile, the UAE takes the lead in mobile internet speed with 324.92 Mbps. On the wired internet front, Singapore emerges as the frontrunner, boasting a speed of 263.51 Mbit/s.
Earlier this year, UZINFOCOM, a structural unit of the Uzbek Ministry of Digital Technologies, launched the first K-root server in Uzbekistan.
Hosting a root server in Uzbekistan should speed up the process of accessing web resources and reduce dependence on foreign servers.
The value of ICT services provided in Uzbekistan from January through November 2022 was worth 13.1 billion soums ($1.1 million).
This figure increased by 21.9 percent compared to the January through November 2021 figure (10.8 billion soums, or $953,649).
