TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 29. Uzbekistan will privatize the Humo national payment system, Trend reports.
This is reflected in the decree of Uzbekistan's president on additional measures to reduce state participation in the economy.
According to the document, the payment system is included in the list of 247 companies where state shares or stakes are expected to be placed on public auction.
Currently, the State Asset Management Agency owns 100 percent of the state stake in Humo.
Meanwhile, as per data from Uzbekistan’s Open Data Portal, the number of Humo payment cards issued in Uzbekistan reached 12.1 million in 2023.
This figure represents an increase of 24.7 percent compared to the previous year (9.7 million in 2022).
In the meantime, Uzbekistan issued 2.3 million Humo payment cards over the first two months of 2024 - 1.14 million in January 2024 and 1.15 million in February.
