TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 20. The volume of natural gas production in Uzbekistan amounted to 18.8 billion cubic meters from January through May 2024, Trend reports.
According to the data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, this figure represents a decrease of 5 percent year-on-year (19.8 billion cubic meters in January–May 2023).
At the same time, the volume of produced gas condensate reached 527,500 tons from January through May 2024. This indicator is 3.1 percent higher than the same period last year (511,200 tons in January–May 2023).
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan has launched the construction of a gas chemical complex in its Karakul free economic zone.
The gas chemical complex will be the first plant in Uzbekistan to operate using methanol-to-olefins (MTO) technology.
The total amount of investment in the project will be $5 billion. The project will implement advanced technologies from the US, Germany, Denmark, Austria, Italy, and China.
