Let individuals who tried, but were unable to commit armed robbery know that they will not be released after serving a one- or two-year sentence, the Fars news agency quoted Iranian judicial system head Ayatollah Sadiq Amuli Larijani as saying today.
He added that, according to Sharia law, the punishment for attempted armed robbery is execution.
"I want to present such a gift to individuals who commit these crimes," he said. "Although they were unable to steal anything, they will be executed."
According to Larijani, individuals detained for violent crimes will be also executed.
