The Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi, said Wednesday that Iran wants to extend all-out support to the people and the Iraqi government.

He made the remarks upon his arrival at Baghdad International Airport where he was officially welcomed by his counterpart, Hoshyar Zebari.

The Iranian foreign minister told IRNA that he was in Baghdad for a one-day visit to congratulate the nation and the Iraqi government on forming the new government of the country and strengthen bilateral relations.

"Iran attaches great importance to security and independence of Iraq," said Ali Akbar Salehi, stressing that Tehran would support "the strengthening of sustainable security in Iraq and its sovereignty and its independence. "

"A sustainable security in Iraq is one of the important results of establishing a strong government," said Salehi.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi foreign minister told IRNA that he believed relations between Tehran and Baghdad brilliant.

Ali-Akbar Salehi must discuss the main issues of bilateral, regional and international affairs within the framework of respective meetings with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and his counterpart Hoshyar Zebari.
