IRGC's Khatam al-Anbiya construction base headquarters' Commander Abolghasem Mozaffari, in an interview to Iranian parliament's website, said that the base has only 8 percent of country's total construction budget.

Mozaffari said that the total construction budget this year in Iran is about $32 billion, and Khatam al-Anbiya has been allocated around $3 billion of that sum (some 8 percent) for their construction projects.

The commander noted that the next year, the country's construction budget will probably not be increased, and added that Khatam al-Anbiya does not want any rivalry with Iran's private sector in terms of construction projects.

In previous years, before president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad came to power, the Khatam al-Anbiya base was heavily involved in the areas of road and dam construction.

After Ahmadinejad got elected as country's president in 2009, the base started getting involved in oil projects as well.

Under the pressure of international sanctions, foreign energy companies such as Total, Repsol, Shell left Iran, abandoning work on Iran's South Pars gas field. All their work and contracts were taken over by the Khatam al-Anbiya base.

In 2011, then a commander of the base, Rostam Qasemi said that the base has completed "more than 10,000 various construction projects" around the country.
