Iran continues its work towards manufacturing hi-tech spacesuits, Head of Iran's Aerospace Research Institute, Mohammed Ebrahimi said, Mehr reported.
Ebrahimi said the design and production of spacesuits are being handled by country's Shiraz University.
"Despite the sanctions, we plan to send a man into space in about 8 years," Ebrahimi said.
Speaking of the spacesuits, Ebrahimi noted that the raw material for spacesuits doesn't cost cheap, as only few countries can afford it.
He added that Iran has enough knowledge of the matter and enough of financing to establish its own line of spacesuits' production.
In previous years, Iran has sent monkeys to space, and is planning to unveil a a comprehensive space observatory named "Imam Sadiq" during the "Fajr Decade" this February.
Iran is one of the 24 founding members of the United Nations' Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, which was set up in 1959.
