President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad left Tehran for Caracas Thursday afternoon to take part in the funeral procession of the late Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, IRNA reported.
Presidential Advisor Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaei, Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, Vice President for Constitutional Affairs Mohammad-Reza Mir-Tajeddini and caretaker of Cooperative, Labor and Welfare Ministry Assadollah Abbasi, are accompanying Ahmadinejad during his visit to Venezuela.
The Funeral procession of Hugo Chavez will be held Friday with the participation of high-ranking officials of various states.
Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías was the President of Venezuela from 1999 until his death in 2013. He was formerly the leader of the Fifth Republic Movement political party from its foundation in 1997 until 2007, when it merged with several other parties to form the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), which he led until his death.
