Iran's South Pars gas company boosts its output

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 11. Gas production at the South Pars gas field (North Dome in Qatar), Iran's joint gas field with Qatar, increased by 2.2 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), the statement of Iran's Oil Ministry said, Trend reports.

Iran produced a total of 242 bcm of rich gas from the South Pars gas field last year.

Furthermore, Iran's production from the South Pars gas field rose to 707 million cubic meters per day last year.

The production potential of Iran's South Pars gas field was 98.8 percent realized last year.

Moreover, 20 platforms in the South Pars gas field were repaired in 105 days last year. 200 billion rials (about $529,000) were spent during the repairs.

To note, the South Pars gas field (North Dome in Qatar) is a joint Iran-Qatar gas field. It is reported that this field has 51 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves, of which 36 trillion cubic meters can be produced. Iran's share in this field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.

Iran has 28 phases at the South Pars gas field. Iran has started production in this field since 2002. It is reported that Iran is currently producing a total of 700 million cubic meters of gas per day from these phases. It is estimated that Iran has spent an estimated $90 billion on this field. It is noted that about 33 percent of the gas that can be produced from the gas field belongs to Iran. On the Iranian side, the fields have been developed by Iran, while on the Qatari side, the fields have been developed mostly by foreign companies.
