Iran boosts electricity output by 7%

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran's electricity generation has increased by 7 percent since the beginning of the current Iranian year, which began on March 21, compared to the same period of the past year.

The country's power plants have generated 168,239 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity in the current year, Iran's Fars news agency reported on October 8.

Thermal and hydro power plants generated 156,270GWh and 9,968GWh of electricity, respectively.

Power generation capacity in Iran has grown by seven percent annually during the past 10 years.

currently, Iran is the biggest electricity producer in the Middle East.

Iran's total electricity generation currently stands at 70,000 megawatts.

Iran currently trades power with Turkey, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq.
