Iran’s car import almost halved

Iran has imported 36,000 sedan cars, worth $847 million during the first 10 months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21, 2015- Jan. 21, 2016), according to Iran's Customs Administration.

Iran's sedan imports registered a fall by 45.4 percent in terms of amount and 52.1 in terms of value during the period year on year.

The Islamic Republic imported 5,600 sedan cars, worth $129 million in the calendar month of Day (Dec. 21, 2015-Jan. 21).

Iran's total car and car part imports also accounted for $1.566 billion in the 10-month period.

Tehran exported $114 million worth of car and car part during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year.

It should be noted that Iran has banned importing cars with engines up to a 2500CC capacity.

Iran's sedan car imports stood at 102,000, worth $2.128 billion during last fiscal year (ended on March 21, 2015), 31 and 30 percent more in terms of amount and value respectively year on year. Some 1.13 million cars have also been produced in the country in the past fiscal year.
