Tehran, Iran, March 11
By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:
Oil products smuggled into Iran have decreased in amount, Director of Fuel Smuggling Office of Iran Qassem Khorshidi said.
He explained that distribution of gas oil according to customers' mileage has helped reduce smuggling a lot, IRNA news agency reported March 11.
"When the 11th administration came to office liquid products used to be consumed at 247 million liters a day. In the past two years, the amount has reduced by 20 percent, which is great because the government managed to consume about 50 million liters less," he explained.
In the meantime, the consumption of oil products in the country has also diminished.
National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) CEO Nasser Sajadi said March 10 that in the current Iranian fiscal year, (since March 21) kerosene consumption dropped by 10 percent, gas oil by 18 percent, and fuel oil by 36 percent compared to the preceding year.
According to NIORDC's annual report, the country consumed 84 billion liters of liquid fuels with worth $48 billion as well as 172.3 billion cubic meters of gas last year, which ended on March 20, 2015.
