Industrial employment in Iran decreases by 44,000 people

Some 882,000 people in Iran have entered the work market last fiscal year (ended March 20), government spokesman Mohammad Bagher Nobakht said a press conference in Tehran, Trend's correspondent reported April 5.

"Of that number, 667,000 found jobs, while 214,000 did not," he added.

Nobakht added that currently the employed population of Iran amounts to some 21,972,000 people.

At the same time, he said that employment in the country's industrial sector dropped by 44,000 people since last year.

The spokesman further said that Iran plans to launch new plans for creating additional 132,000 job opportunities in the current year.
