By Mehdi Sepahvand –- Trend:

The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) intends to continue its anti-inflation policy and it will not sacrifice a low inflation rate for production boost, CBI Secretary General Mahmoud Ahmadi told Trend March 8.

The CBI is concerned about inflation in the next fiscal year (to start March 21) seeing the growth in liquidity and monetary base, Ahmadi said.

“The CBI will continue to implement its programs about controlling inflation in the coming year because [lowering] inflation is one of the achievements of the [incumbent] administration,” he reiterated.

The Rouhani administration took office in 2013 when inflation was over 40 percent. Now, however, inflation stands at around 7 percent.
