Baku, Azerbaijan, July 17

By Fatih Karimov– Trend:

National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and Japanese engineering corporation Toyo signed a HOA (heads of agreement) for renovation of Salman Gas field’s equipment and its output rise.

The document was signed by Gholamreza Manouchehri, deputy head of the NIOC for Engineering and Development Affairs, Hiroshi Sato, director of Energy Business Unit of Toyo and Hamid Akbari, managing director of PetroPars in Tehran on July 17, the NIOC reported.

Under the signed deal, Petropars is required to finance the study phase of the project, meanwhile Toyo corporation will finance the implementation of the project.

Salman is a joint field between Iran and the United Arab Emirates, which has been producing more than 2 mcm/d of associated gas for more than a decade, but it is being totally flared due to the lack of equipment to collect and deliver it to Iran's refineries in Asaluyeh.

Currently the restricted amount of collected gas is partly delivered to Sirri Island (island in the Persian Gulf belonging to Iran), and partly is injected to Salman oil field to increase its oil recovery rate.
