Iran’s imports from CIS witness huge rise

Iran imported over 1.9 million tons of good from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in the last fiscal year, ended March 2018, registering a big fall by 64 percent compared to the receding year.

The data released by Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI)‎ indicates that the Islamic Republic imported $1,055 million worth of various commodities from the CIS in the period, 60 percent less year-on-year.

Meanwhile, Iran’s imports from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation registered the highest growth among the regions and stood at the top of the list, followed by EU.

Iran’s non-oil exports to CIS in the same span of time accounted to $1.989 million, registering a tiny rise compared to $1.986 million worth of imported goods in 2016-2017.

Meanwhile the volume of the Islamic Republic’s exports to CIS amounted to 3.96 million tons, 2.5 percent less year-on-year.

The OIC was the top destination of Iran’s non-oil goods in the last fiscal year, however the value was 7 percent less compared to the preceding year.

Iran’s non-oil exports to ASEAN registered the highest growth among the reported regions in the last fiscal year and stood at 47 percent.
