Trend:

Saeed Pakseresht, NIGC’s (National Iranian Gas Company) research and technology director, said the country plans to build its first mini-LNG production plant.

“10 million euros are required to build the country’s first mini-LNG production plant,” Pakseresht told ISNA on September 3.

The construction of the plant will be aimed at supplying CNG stations used in rural areas, he added.

A tender will be put out for financing the project in the near future, the official noted, adding that initial studies for the construction of the plant have been carried out.

Iran LNG, also known as NIOC LNG, is a plant under development at Tombak Port, approximately 50 kilometers north of Assaluyeh Port and 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) southeast of Kangan.

Construction of the LNG plant started in 2007. In April 2007, Austrian oil company OMV signed a preliminary agreement to participate in the project; however, the final agreement is not signed.

The project includes two LNG trains each with a capacity of 5.4 million tons of LNG per annum. The trains will use the Linde Liquefaction Process.

The Iran LNG project consists of the LNG plant, including storage and loading facilities and several units.
