Car production in Iran decreases

Production of various vehicles in Iran decreased by 46.2 percent in Aug. 21-Sept. 21, according to a report by Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade.

Compared to the same period last year, production decreased from 105,904 to 56,949 vehicles.

During the reporting period, the production of cars decreased to 52,707 cars from 98,407 cars compared to the same period last year.

This is while the production of "van" minibuses increased to 208 from 17.

The production of small trucks decreased from 5,961 to 3,193 small trucks compared to the same period last year.

Production of various minibuses also increased and reached 140 minibuses compared to 77 minibuses produced last year.

A 61 percent reduction was observed in the production of various buses, from 182 to 71 buses.

A 50-percent reduction in the production of various trucks was also observed, from 1,260 to 630 trucks.

In the first half of the current Iranian year (which starts March 21, 2018), a 15 percent decline was also observed in the production of various vehicles. Compared to the same period last year, the number of vehicles dropped from 686,687 to 582,747.
