Some 600 billion rials (approximately $14.2 million) have been allocated to improve the Rasht-Qazvin railway project in Iran, Director General of the Iranian Northern Railway Administration Ali Khodaei said.
The funds were allocated to pay off debts to contractors and improve the project, he added.
Khodaei also said that the Rasht-Qazvin railway has been constructed and the work is underway to modernize equipment at some stations.
He added that more than 22 kilometers of the Rasht-Qazvin railway (the total length of which is 185 km) account for tunnels and eight kilometers account for bridges.
The Qazvin-Rasht railway will be commissioned within one month.
