Investments made in mining sector in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province up

The investments made in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province increased by 93 percent during six months (March 21 –Sept. 22) of this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019) compared to the same period of last Iranian year, Parisa Abidpur, Deputy Chairperson of the Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of the West Azerbaijan province, said.

The investments worth more than 190 billion rials (about $4.52 million) have been made during the reporting period, Abidpur added, Trend reports referring to Shata news agency.

During six months, 22 projects in connection with the extraction of 458,300 tons of mining materials were under implementation and 186 people were employed in the province, he said.

The investments worth 3.49 trillion rials (about $83 million) were made in the extraction of mining materials and 5,142 people were employed, Abidpur said.

He said that there are 211 exploration areas in the province and they are being explored.

Commenting on the issue of salt removal from Lake Urmia, Abidpur said that so far, five temporary licenses have been issued for extracting 46,000 tons of salt.
