The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company said since 2016, $9.5 billion has been spent in the gas industry from the source of replacement of gas with liquid fuel and saving on liquid fuel.

Referring to 90 percent coverage of gas supply in the country, Hassan Montazer Torbati said that good measures have been taken to create employment and self-sufficiency, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"Although in the distribution network, the designs were initially done by French companies, today all items are made entirely in the country,” he said.

The CEO of the National Gas Company said that since 2016, billions of dollar has been invested in the gas industry from the source of gas replacement with liquid fuel.

"Good measures have taken in the field of pipelines,” he noted. “Two types of turbochargers are produced in the country, the whole pipeline and also sheets are being produced in the country, and many strategic items are made in the refinery sector of Iran."

He went on to say that today, out of 29 items needed by the gas industry, approximately 25 items are produced in the country.

“The National Gas Company pursues its goals in several ways,” Torbati added. “Part of the need is met through research institutes, some through the manufacturing contracts and part through technology transfer.”

"We must have a resilient and stable network," Montazer Torbati said. "We must rely on ourselves which will be achieved with the development of knowledge-based companies."
