First Vice President of Iran Eshaq Jahangiri called the free trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union a good opportunity to boost Iran's economy, Trend reports via IRNA.

Jahangiri also asked the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade to set a timetable for finalizing the agreement.

"The free trade between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union is not only not a threat to domestic production, but also provides a large market for the country's manufactured goods," he said.

He called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide the necessary grounds for removing the obstacles and finalizing the text of the agreement.

In the meeting, which was attended by the Ministers of Energy, Industry, Mines and Trade, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Central Bank, President of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran Hamid Zadboum presented a report on the latest trade relations between Iran and Eurasia.

Zadboum pointed to the positive impact of the Eurasian agreement on the country's trade.

"The volume of trade increased by 7 percent during the implementation of the MoU compared to the same period before, including a 44-percent growth in Iran's exports to Eurasia and a 13-percent decrease in Iran's imports from Eurasia,” he said.
