Agricultural production of Iran's Ardabil Province to increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15. Agricultural production in Ardabil Province will increase by 1 million tons with the commissioning of Khudafarin and Imarat dams in northwestern Iran, Director General of the Agriculture Department of Iran's Ardabil Province Nobakht Azhdari said, Trend reports.

According to Azhdari, 29,000 hectares will be added to the province's agricultural region, creating 15,000 jobs in the agricultural industry.

Azhdari further stated that 147 agricultural facilities in Ardabil Province are set to open during the current Iranian year (March 20, 2024–March 20, 2025). Currently, the physical work on these plans is 60 percent complete.

Azhdari noted that these plans will employ 450 people and increase the province's production by 12,600 tons.

The official stated that 412 hectares of greenhouses are scheduled for operation in the province. As a result, the province's greenhouse production will increase by 56,000 tons, employing 1,370 people.

To note, Ardabil Province has 740,000 hectares of cultivated land and 38,000 hectares of horticultural land. More than 4.5 million tons of crops are harvested annually in the province.
