Iran reveals volume of loans extended by its banks in trade sector

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 23. Iranian banks extended loans to the trade sector worth 4.47 quadrillion rials (about $107 billion) in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), the statistics of Iran's Central Bank said, Trend reports.

The statistics indicate that last year Iran provided loans as working capital in the trade sector worth about 3.9 quadrillion rials (about $92.5 billion).

According to the statistics, Iran provided loans worth about 267 trillion rials (about $6.35 billion) last year in connection with developing enterprises in the trade sector and 266 trillion rials (about $6.34 billion) in connection with establishing enterprises and other opportunities.

Statistics show that Iranian banks extended loans worth 25.4 trillion rials (about $605 million) for housing in the trade sector during the mentioned period, while consumer loans in this sector amounted to 19 trillion rials (about $454 million).

The data shows that 9.03 trillion rials (about $215 million) worth of loans were issued in the trade sector for self-employment and 1.67 trillion rials (about $39.8 million) for renovation works.

To note, Iranian banks issued loans worth 46.1 quadrillion rials (about $1.01 trillion) last year.
