A shootout occurred in the Iranian city of Babolsar, resulting in death of a local police officer.
Iranian news agency Fars reported Nov. 27 that the incident took place as the police were trying to inspect a suspicious car in the Bahanmir Square in Babolsar.
During the inspection, five people in the car opened fire at the police, severely wounding an officer, who later died of the injuries.
Reportedly, the perpetrators managed to flee the scene, but they were all later apprehended.
A criminal case has been launched into the incident.
