Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / A network of lawyers has been established to combat human trafficking in Azerbaijan, Nazir Guliyev, heading the Juridical Assistance Fund of 'World of Peace', said on 29 August.
The aim of the network is to inform the public about the problems of human trafficking and to render assistance to its victims. Thirty-three lawyers will work within the network.
A lack of awareness is the main cause contributing to human trafficking. Youths are the most victims of human trafficking. The world's annual income derived from human trafficking is between $9 and $12bln.
UNICEF's Azerbaijani representative, Munir Mammadov, said that annually 1mln children become victims of human trafficking.
The State Committee on Family, Woman, and Child Problems is holding workshops regarding human trafficking in Azerbaijan in September and October.
