The Court of Cassation of Armenia has adopted a precedential decision regarding the concepts of 'slander' and 'insulting', so that sealed sources of the media are under complete control of the authorities and freedom of speech is in danger, Tert.am writes.
The Court of Cassation has introduced two kinds of 'information source': the proper and improper. And, despite the fact that their list is not set, however it turns out, that if someone secretly gave information to a journalist (even corresponding to reality), it is considered as an improper source and if the same person openly provides the information and it was immediately noted in the publication then it is proper.
The newspaper notes that as a result of this infamous decision in the near future, journalists will have serious difficulties in communicating with their sources which is a direct manifestation of the restrictions on freedom of speech.
