Georgian Foreign Minister discusses Geneva talks with OSCE special envoy

Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze met with the Special Representative of the Greek Chairperson-in-Office of the OSCE, Ambassador Charalampos Christopoulos. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Greece in Georgia George Hadzimihelakis and the head of OSCE mission Terhi Hakala.

The sides discussed the issues related to the fifth round of Geneva talks, scheduled for May 18-19, as well as practical problems linked with the implementation of mechanisms of preventing and reacting to the incidents , which was agreed during the fourth round of Geneva talks, the Foreign Ministry reported.

Also the meeting touched upon the extension of the mandate of the OSCE mission to Georgia and issues related to the annual OSCE conference on security, which will be held in June.

The Greek side stressed and expressed gratitude to the Georgian side for its constructive attitude towards the issues discussed.

In his turn, Grigol Vashadze expressed hope that during the Vienna negotiations on the extension of the OSCE mission in Georgia, it will be possible to uphold the representation of the organization in the country, and full monitoring of the occupied territories.
