Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Alasania has been dismissed from the post of First Deputy Prime Minister, Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili's order posted on the official website of the Georgian government says.
The reasons Alasania was dismissed are not yet disclosed. The new First Deputy Prime Minister has not been named yet.
According to information given, the reason for this decision could be differences between Alasania and Ivanishvili towards the future powers of the president to which the current Defence Minister intends to run for in October 2013.
Alasania has told reporters that he and the prime minister had a sharp exchange at a meeting on this issue.
