Georgian Railway is operating smoothly, spokesman for the company Dachi Tsaguria told media today.

According to Tsaguria, all passenger trains left Tbilisi Central Station on schedule. Moreover, the trains are moving from West Georgia to Tbilisi on time.

Around 8000 railway men were involved in the strike which began at 10 a.m.

"The railway is operating without interruption," Tsaguria said. "Nothing is threatening passenger and freight transportation. We urge strikers to negotiate and engage in a constructive dialogue."

Georgian railway workers plan to go on strike on November 14 calling for overtime pay, a fair bonus system and bonuses for length of service and qualifications.
