Judicial sitting to be held at Georgian Court of Appeal on former defense minister’s case

Tbilisi, Georgia, April 7

By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

A judicial sitting will be held at the Tbilisi Court of Appeal on the so called case of seven special squad soldiers. Georgian former defense minister, the country's former Interior Minister, Bacho Akhalaia and several other former representatives of the Interior Ministry and Defense Ministry of Georgia figure as defendants in this case.

The trial is in the final stage.

Bacho Akhalaia is accused of torturing seven special squad soldiers at Yagludzha training base for their political views that differ from those of the authorities.

Tbilisi City Court adopted a decision on this issue bringing only Bacho Akhalaia but not other defendants in a verdict of guilty on Oct.31, 2013. The prosecutor's office appealed the court's decision in the Court of Appeal.
