Georgia has the possibility to have a deep-water port in the Black Sea and this will be the possibility not only for Georgia but everybody, said Werner Liepach, Director General of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Central and West Asia, Trend reports via Georgian media outlets.

He made the remark at the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum 2019, which is held in the Georgian capital on October 22-23.

“Deep water port is necessary for the Black Sea and Anaklia is the way out. I know that Anaklia Project has challenges but it is important that the problems are resolved and processes continued normally. This is a big project and needs strong partners, high-class sponsors with rich experience. Also, you need to find the right balance between risks taken both by private and governmental sectors,” Liepach said.

According to Liepach, correct prognosis should be made and discussions should continue to reach an agreement.
