Georgia's knitwear exports to Turkey increase

Georgian exports of knitted goods to Turkey from January through September 2021 increased by 70 percent to $48.3 million, compared to $28.4 million over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The volume of Georgian knitted goods exported to Turkey over first 9 months of 2021 also increased to 1,556 tons, compared to 940 tons over the reporting period of 2020.

Georgia exported 902.8 tons of men's or boys' clothes to Turkey from January through September 2021, totaling $22.3 million, which is an increase of 97.3 percent, compared to $11.3 million (450 tons) over the same period of 2020.

Meanwhile, Georgia imported 1,492 tons of textiles, including dress patterns, from Turkey over the first 9 months of 2021, in the amount of $32.8 million.

The figure increased by 42.6 percent, compared to $23 million worth of textile imported from January through September 2020.

Georgia’s total trade turnover with Turkey from January through September 2021 amounted to $1.4 billion, compared to $1.1 billion over the same period of 2020.

Turkey remained the top Georgian trade turnover partner over first 9 months of 2021, followed by Russia ($1.1 billion) and China ($1 billion).
