Main countries of origin for tourists arriving in Georgia

The largest share of tourists who visited Georgia in January through September 2021 accounted for Turkey, with 225,460 visitors, Trend reports via Georgian National Tourism Administration.

The number of Turkish visitors over first 9 months of 2021 decreased by 19.2 percent, compared to 279,142 tourists over the same period of 2020, and by 75.2 percent compared to the reporting period of 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic).

Turkey is followed by Russia with 141,954 visitors.

Georgia saw decrease in the number of visitors from Russia over the reporting period of 2021 as well – by 27.6 percent, compared to 196,139 tourists over the same period of 2020.

The current index of Russia's visitors has significantly decreased (by 88.2 percent), compared to 1.2 million people from January through September 2019.

The remaining countries:

- Ukraine – 114,592 visitors (increase of 195.7 percent, compared to the same period of 2020);

- Armenia – 107,450 visitors (decrease of 54 percent, compared to the same period of 2020);

- Georgia (nonresident) – 106,787 visitors (decrease of 15.5 percent, compared to the same period of 2020);

- Israel – 65,382 visitors (increase of 158.5 percent, compared to the same period of 2020);

- Azerbaijan – 57,509 visitors (decrease of 79.7 percent, compared to the same period of 2020);

- Kazakhstan – 48,172 visitors (increase of 303.9 percent, compared to the same period of 2020);

- Saudi Arabia – 45,199 visitors (increase of 811.8 percent, compared to the same period of 2020).
