The current figure also increased by 13.2 percent (1,100 tons), compared to 8,300 tons in September 2021.

Meanwhile, the imports of aviation fuel to Georgia from January through October 2021 amounted 73,500 tons, which is an increase of 54.7 percent, compared to 47,500 tons over the same period of 2020.

However, the same figure decreased by 11.4 percent, compared to 83,000 tons over the same period of 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic).

Exporters of aviation fuel to Georgia (Jan. through Oct. 2021):

Turkmenistan – 40,300 tons (54.9 percent);

Turkey – 8,200 tons (11.2 percent);

“The significant increase in aviation fuel imports is due to the significantly increased number of tourists and visitors to the country as a result of the COVID-19 vaccination process, which in turn is directly related to the restoration of air traffic. This trend will continue in the following months,” the Union said.
