Georgia reveals producer price index for industrial goods

The producer price index (PPI) for industrial products in Georgia in October 2021 increased by 2.6 percent, compared to September 2021, Trend reports via National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The same figure also increased by 17.7 percent, compared to the same period of 2020, the report said.

According to Geostat, the prices for products from mining and quarrying in the reporting period of 2021 increased by 2.1 percent, compared to September 2021, contributing 0.13 percentage points to the overall monthly PPI change.

The prices for manufactured products increased by 2.8 percent, with 2.24 percent contribution to the monthly index change, the report said.

A significant price increase was recorded for base metals (10.2 percent) and food products (2.6 percent), Geostat said.

According to the report, the prices increased by 1.8 percent for the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning category, contributing 0.19 percentage points to the monthly index change.

Meanwhile, the annual PPI rate was mainly affected by the following categories:

- Manufactured products – an increase of 20.3 percent (16.09 percentage points contribution to the overall annual index growth);

- Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning – an increase of 12.6 percent (1.44 percentage points contribution to the annual index growth);

- Water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services – an increase of 7.8 percent, (0.24 percentage points contribution to the annual index growth).
