Russia becomes main importer of Georgia’s persimmons

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 28

Russia’s imports of persimmon from Georgia from September 1 through December 26, 2021, amounted to 22,677 tons, which is the largest figure among all importers, Trend reports via publication of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

According to the report, the largest volume of persimmons produced in the reporting period of 2021 was also mainly exported to Armenia (6,086 tons), Ukraine (3,582 tons), Moldova (463 tons), Kazakhstan (301 tons), Slovenia (172 tons), Belarus (140 tons), Estonia (104 tons), and Kyrgyzstan (80 tons).

The export volume of Georgia’s persimmons from September 1 through December 26, 2021, amounted to 33,700 tons.

The export value of Georgia’s persimmons over the reporting period of 2021 totaled $16.4 million, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, based on the previous statistics, Georgian exports of persimmons from September 1 through December 19, 2021, amounted to 11,700 tons, while the value of exports totaled $5.9 million.

The main importers of Georgian persimmons were again Armenia (5,492 tons), Russia (3,752 tons), Ukraine (2,285 tons), Turkey (108 tons), Kazakhstan (62 tons), and Moldova (39 tons).
