Georgia reveals its main export destinations for copper ore

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 7. Georgia’s exports of copper ore from January through February 2022 amounted to $156.2 million, which is an increase of 65.4 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($94.5 million), Trend reports via National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

Thus, copper ores ranked first among Georgia’s main export commodities in the reporting period of 2022, with 20.6 percent share in the total exports, the report said.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria ranked first among Georgia’s main copper ores importers from January through February 2022. The exports to the country increased by 138.1 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($34.6 million), and totaled $82.4 million.

China is second on the list with $73.8 million worth of copper ores imports from Georgia in the reporting period of 2022 - an increase of 73.6 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($42.5 million).

Georgia’s total exports from January through February 2022 amounted to $760.3 million, which is an increase of 54.5 percent, compared to $492.1 million over the same period of 2021.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s foreign trade turnover (excluding non-declared trade) in the reporting period of 2022 amounted to $2.5 billion, which is an increase of 49.2 percent, compared to $1.6 billion over the same period of 2021.
