Baku. Azerbaijan. August 5. The Israeli General Security Service has prepared an underground bunker in the Jerusalem area for the extended stay of Israeli leadership and for managing the country from this location, Trend reports, citing TASS.

The decision to create the underground bunker in the Jerusalem area was made following the Second Lebanon War in 2007. This bunker, officially named the National Crisis Management Center, is protected against missile threats and various types of weapons. Its location and depth remain classified. It is known that the bunker can accommodate several hundred people and is equipped with living quarters, office spaces, meeting halls, and a unified command center connected to the Israeli Ministry of Defense complex in Tel Aviv.

The bunker has been brought into operational readiness in light of the expected attack from the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah and Iran.

The Jerusalem-area bunker has not been used in the 10 months since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, and the start of the military operation in the Gaza Strip. The bunker was used several times for its intended purpose "to manage a series of actions" during the 50-day Israeli military operation "Protective Edge" in the Gaza Strip in July-August 2014. Since then, it has been used several times for meetings of the country's security cabinet.
