Palestine's Ambassador to Turkey Nabil Maarouf told that Mahmoud Abbas would make his first visit abroad to Turkey, after Palestine's UN status was upgraded, Anadolu Agency reported.
Maarouf said the aim of the visit was to thank Turkish government for its support on Palestine and Abbas would have talks with Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on establishment of a national reconciliation government.
UN upgraded Palestine's status to "non-member observer state" last week. The title means Palestine will be acknowledged as a sovereign state within UN.
Upgraded status would enable Palestine to apply several agencies including International Crime Court to sue Israel for war crimes.
