Palestinian worshippers marched Friday through Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam's third holiest shrine, in support of the ousted Egyptian president Mohammad Morsi, Anadolu agency reported.

Waving Egyptian flags, they chanted slogans in support of Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood.

They also carried a huge poster of Morsi reading "Jerusalem with legitimacy and against coup".

Morsi, Egypt's first democratically elected president, was removed by the army on July 3, under a roadmap announced by defense minister Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi for Egypt's future following mass protests against Morsi and his regime.

Under the roadmap, the constitution was suspended and the head of the Constitutional Court was sworn in as interim president.

Morsi loyalists have since taken to the streets in Cairo and nationwide defending his legitimacy and demanding his reinstatement.

"Down down Sisi" chanted the Palestinian supporters, describing what happened in Egypt as a military coup.

They also criticized certain Gulf Arab states that showed support for Morsi's ouster.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait have offered 12 billion USD in aid to support Egypt's economy during the new transitional period.
