A yacht carrying 15 tourists caught fire early Wednesday near Ecuador's national park on the Galapagos Islands but caused no injuries, authorities said.

The fire broke out at about 1:00 a.m. (0600 GMT) on Bartolome Island of the Galapagos archipelago, the park said in a statement, Xinhua reported.

All 15 tourists aboard were immediately evacuated by another two tourist ships near the scene, the statement said.

The park said a group of guards has been dispatched to investigate the cause of the fire and to see whether marine fauna or the coast of the island were affected.

Bartolome Island is well known for its volcanic formations, two bays, and Bartolome Pinnacle, one of the world's most photographed landscapes.

The Galapagos Islands was the first place on Earth to be officially designated as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.
