A New Zealand businessman who fatally stabbed a 15-year-old boy he found tagging graffiti on his garage door was sent to prison for four years and three months on Friday.

Bruce Emery, 50, was found guilty of the manslaughter of Pihema Cameron but was acquitted of murder at a trial in Auckland in December.

The trial heard that Emery picked up a knife and chased Cameron and another teenager who went tagging in the street one night in January last year after the pair had drunk alcohol and smoked cannabis.

Emery, a father of three girls, claimed that he did not mean to kill the youth who walked onto the knife he was holding out in self defence, dpa reported.
