Five children were killed when they were accidentally electrocuted while playing in the Philippines, police said Wednesday, DPA reported.
The children, aged between 4 and 7, were playing in a ricefield near a creek in Pila town in Laguna province, just south of Manila, when the accident happened Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent Manolito Labador, the provincial police director, said one of the victims accidentally touched a live electrical wire while playing in the ricefield.
"The other victims tried to help but all were also electrocuted," he said. "The victims were rushed to a nearby clinic by their parents but were declared dead on arrival."
