Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton pleaded guilty on Monday to charges of possession of cocaine and will pay a 2,000- dollar fine and serve 200 hours of community service. She was handed a one-year suspended jail sentence, dpa reported.

Hilton entered the plea in a Las Vegas courtroom where a prosecutor warned her that any violation of her probation terms would see her sent to jail for a year.

"If she is arrested for anything besides a minor traffic violation, she will spend a year in jail," said Clark County District Attorney David Roger, according to celebrity website TMZ.com. "There will be no discussion. The court will have no discretion."

Hilton pleaded guilty to drug possession and obstructing a public officer - both misdemeanors - in order to avoid a felony drug charge.

Hilton was arrested August 27 in Las Vegas following a traffic stop in which her boyfriend failed a field sobriety test. Hilton's downfall came when she reached into her Chanel handbag for some lip gloss, and a bag containing 0.8 grams of cocaine fell out.

Hilton, 29, previously served 45 days in jail for repeated driving violations.
