A landslide killed 13 people in central South Korea Wednesday on the second day of heavy rain, officials said.
The landslide occurred near the town of Chuncheon, around 85 kilometres east of Seoul, sweeping away two guesthouses and a restaurant, a spokesman for the state emergency authority said.
Ten students were among the dead, radio news reports said. At least 24 people were injured, including four seriously, the spokesman said.
Around 75 people were in the buildings when they were struck, and more than 500 police and fire services personnel were dispatched to search for victims.
The downpour also flooded several areas around the capital, and disrupted traffic and power supplies, the Yonhap News Agency reported.
