Big terrorist attack prevented in Turkey

A big terrorist attack was prevented in the eastern Turkish province of Bingol during a special operation conducted by local law enforcement, the provincial police said in a message Jan. 31.
The message says that during the operation, 600 kilograms of explosives were found, which was buried near one of the main roads.
Meanwhile, two members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist organization were detained as part of the operation, according to the message.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for more than 30 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.
The UN and the European Union list the PKK as a terrorist organization.
