Cargo transshipment volume via Turkish Karabiga port revealed

The volume of cargo transshipment via Turkish port of Karabiga in country's Chanakkale province amounted to 1.1 million tons in Jan. 2020, Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

Transshipment of cargo via Karabiga port by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 40,707 tons, while the ships flying flags of other countries carried 1.06 million tons of cargo.

"No cargo was transitted via Karabiga port in Jan. 2020," the ministry said.

The total cargo transshipment through ports of Turkey exceeded 32.9 million tons in January 2020.

Cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 2.4 million tons.

The volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports by ships flying flags of their country of origin amounted to over 1.5 million tons, while the vessels flying flags of other countries carried just over 29 million tons of cargo.

In total, over 6.1 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through Turkish ports.
